Rani Vecera – ‘Mollie+Vera’
Rani is the creator behind her label Mollie+Vera.
“In 2020 my life changed when we found family we never knew we had.”
She has dedicated her craft to her great grandmother (Mollie) and her grandmother (Vera), both of whom she never met. Mollie was Cherokee Indian and Rani takes inspiration from her Cherokee designs.
Having been an actor, photographer and Chinese Medical doctor, her draw to weaving came as a surprise while studying under Emma Shepherd but her love for it made her unstoppable.
Having lived in India as a teenager Rani developed a love of textiles… “textures, patterns and colors are continuously flowing around in my head. My next project often comes to me in a dream and I feel honoured to have the ability and patience for this craft.”
Rani is based on the Mornington Peninsula and much of her work is for commissioned pieces.
