On an intimate scale, this painting depicts my sister leaning into a mirror in the bathroom we shared on holiday. Through an interplay of light, form and reflection, the work explores the tension between connection and distance. The cold, harsh light is softened through a tender painting approach, visible in the folds of her clothing and the gentle slope of her figure. A quiet vulnerability lingers in the scene as the eye is drawn from her back towards her small, obscured reflection.
