‘Autumn at Marysville’ 2024
acrylic on canvas
45 x 45cm framed
I painted Autumn in Marysville en plein air during a brief but memorable stay with my art friends. Immersed in the crisp air and shifting light, I was captivated by the golden ochres and rich amber tones of falling leaves set against the clear blues of the sky. The scene carried a quiet rhythm—the earth slowly releasing summer’s abundance and preparing for the stillness of winter. This work is both a direct response to the landscape before me and a meditation on nature’s cycles of change. Painting on site allowed me to feel a profound connection with the moment, where observation became reflection. Just as autumn invites us to pause and look inward, the painting speaks to the theme of Reflections—not only in the mirrored hues of sky and foliage, but also in the inner space it opens for contemplation. Autumn in Marysville is a reminder of the beauty in transition, the serenity of letting go, and the harmony between the outer landscape and our inner reflections.
