Reflection requires stillness. A pause, a moment in time… The boat symbolises what’s ahead or what has been, embarking on a journey either leaving or returning.
There are no figures, only the landscape and the humble man-made forms of the boat and the jetty. The colour palette is muted with soft blues, greys, and earthy browns conveying a sense of calm. I hope the viewer is drawn into the painting and encouraged to pause for a moment and reflect on their own thoughts and feelings and have a sense of solitude and contemplation.
