‘In Another Light’ 2025
acrylic and mixed media on paper

I am inspired by the shifting moods of Port Phillip Bay: the way light plays across the water, how colours deepen and soften with the seasons, and how familiar headlands and horizons transform when seen from a new angle. In my work, I reimagine these forms through shifting perspectives, sometimes from above, sometimes at the edge of the horizon, creating spaces that feel both familiar and elusive. Texture, layered colour, and atmospheric washes allow me to move beyond realism. My intention is not to map a precise place, but to capture its spirit—the glow of light at the horizon’s edge, the geometry of land against sky, the quiet energy of space, the colours of the season. Each painting becomes a reflection of how the bay feels in a moment of time, inviting viewers not to recognise a location, but to step into the mood, the atmosphere, and the sense of connection that the sea and landscape evokes.
