‘After all this time’ is inspired by the seeming durability and agelessness of areas of the natural environment despite our many attempts to contain, change and control it. The theme of walking and knowing resonates with my personal experience and perception of how I engage with the landscape – though the concept of ‘knowing’ is an elusive, ever changing one, like landscape itself. Rather than acquiring a knowledge of the unknowable, I make do with an understanding that the impression it makes upon me is one that I carry in my mind and into the studio. Memories of sound, textures and light are reimagined within the physicality of making marks on the canvas.
