“In this body of work, I have used the printmaking medium of monotypes, where each work is unique. Printing in two dimensions and evolving into three dimensional paper forms which are revealing of both fragility and strength.
Windows are portals allowing us to travel from here to there, framing the gaze which can alter with the mere twist of a hip, the tilt of the head or the elemental change of wind, sun, rain or light. I am constantly aware of the light filling and emptying each day, new growth, old growth, shapes developing and creating a new whole.” Jennifer Buntine

Pelt
1 – 23 April 2023
Emma Davies bio-mimicry series continues to examine the surface and shape of the creatures around us. With Pelt, the artist manipulates twine and lets the contemporary medium direct how each work would celebrate the texture, colour and form of skin. The artworks depicted in natural habitats further explores our relationship with the familiar organic forms in our environment.

A Field of Flowers
3 – 24 December 2022
“My work is often centred around still life and the collection of works chosen for this show offer a breadth of my practice over the last few years. Painting reference books, favourite novels, bouquets of native flowers from the Flinders General Store (in “Coastal Bouquet”), buddleja, gum leaves from my garden on our farm are painted in glass jars or favourite jugs.
Driving into Flinders from either direction in Summer I am greeted by windblown swathes of grasses meeting the azure blue of the sea. All these colours and textures I try to capture in my work.
The title for this show is also a nod to the sudden passing of my father in law in the middle of this year, not long after he gifted our family 1500 daffodil bulbs to plant in our paddock. Of course, the plants got battered by wind, rain and kangaroos this year and only a few bloomed but the hope is that in the future, especially once the bulbs multiply that they will become a field of flowers like the ones he used to pick and sell in his roadside florists’ stall in his younger years.”

Winter Wildflower
8 – 30 October 2022
In the midst of the winter when everything else slows down and the landscape sleeps, a wildflower blooms, unexpectedly, beneath falling leaves, flowing water and dancing branches. Nurturing the trail that runs through landscapes of precious memories and new experiences, Winter Wildflower showcases Chloe Caday’s recent plein air paintings of the Victorian bushland during her first year of motherhood. This body of work is a deep exploration into her connection to place and home, and the significance of motherhood reshaping her current practice.

Floor Plans
5 – 26 March 2022
Floor Plans
Floor Plans is an exploration of space and aesthetics, rendered through ten still life paintings by emerging artist Tym Yee. During ongoing periods of being at home throughout the pandemic, Yee reignited a fascination with interior design and architecture, voraciously consuming content on YouTube channels including The Local Project, ArchiPro, House & Home, The Design Emotive and Never Too Small. Dazzled by the calibre of homes and absorbed by the imagined backstories of the wealthy homeowners, the artist began reflecting on his own domestic surroundings, personal aspirations, and career path. Consequently, these works are a response to the seeming sophistication of other people’s lives, a mercurial admiration of high end living and a desire to process notions of the good life that at times seem tangible and intangible.

Five km Away
5 – 26 February 2022
Five Km Away
Once we travelled mostly where we desired and as we wished. With Covid’s arrival, some communities and cities were locked down and travel for many was limited to no more than 5 kms from home. The nearest café and supermarket, the local park and street footpaths became go-to destinations. Memories of other places lingered on iPhone and Android feeds. Planning future escapades and family visits was an imagined reality. Closed borders, both interstate and international, reigned us in.
Five kms Away is an exhibition of works created over 2021 lockdowns.
