Ironbark Series #12
2023
watercolour, collage and ink on watercolour canvas
53 x 43cm framed
This work, one of a series inspired by a magnificent ironbark outside my bedroom window, symbolises the wild untamed natural beauty of the Peninsula, the meaningful preservation of indigenous bushland despite the encroachment of modern society’s footprint. It represents the handprint of nature, wind in the trees, sun through the leaves, so vital for habitat and well-being. As I work in my garden, or walk the local bushland reserves, I feel an awe-inspiring sense of place, of what came before, of the miraculous natural world around me, and of what should be nurtured for the future.
