It Seems far, But Not Really
2024
acrylic on canvas
44 x 63cm framed
The sensations
through arteries and organs
the feelings in your head,
moving through your body
looking at the sky,
the sea waves are caressed with the soft sun
moving at their own pace
choking on the beauty
now that’s a thing
how far is it to the horizon my father used to say
I look at the hills, never tiring
circling, the birds make their noises
a sound that lingers
my mind goes elsewhere
all I want is this space,
I stare
someone’s stretching the clouds
lie down and sleep
dissolving light into dark
I think about this painting,
‘It seems far, but not really’
It is my peninsula, landscapes
visited my body in the space
feeling, listening
my connection to landscape
