Julie is an Australian artist based in Flinders, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Immersed in the unique beauty of this coastal landscape, she draws deep inspiration from her natural surroundings. Her return to painting—following a successful career in art education, textile design, and manufacturing—marks a renewed and passionate commitment to her artistic practice. Primarily a colourist, Julie’s work is contemporary, bold, and expressive. Her paintings—spanning both landscape and still life—are grounded in direct observation, informed by the shifting light and atmospheric conditions of her environment. “I must feel emotionally connected to what I see before I begin. Working from life, my surroundings inspire the composition, but once the painting starts, memory and imagination take over. I aim to evoke an emotional response from the viewer.”
