‘Swallows’
Louise Grant
reclaimed metal, copper, hemp, banana silk
450mm Ø
“This piece was inspired by my most recent experience with the Grampians Bush fires 28/12/24. As an artist who is passionate about incorporating recycled treasures in my work, I was drawn to the beautiful patterns in a piece of metal found in a burnt out shed on my property (swallows). The copper wire (recycled) depicts the sparkle of sunlight surrounding the flight of the swallows embracing the start of a new day with their family. New life, new hope. The copper wire also reflects the sparks of embers while the swallows dart and weave as their home is being destroyed by the fire in the background. The flower pattern represents growth, life and the beauty of nature to rise again.”
