The Custodians
2024
ink, guache on cotton paper.
96 x 54cm framed
I seek to capture the connection between humankind and country, highlighting the role of successive generations as the custodians of country and lore, who have walked and continue to walk, connect and understand country. The title, “The Custodians (Generations in Hand)”, suggests that we are not only the inheritors of country but also its caretakers. The details symbolise the delicate balance required to hold our country in our hands responsibly. It is a call to action, urging viewers to reflect on their own role as custodians, by observing, connecting and considering the impact of their actions on the intricate tapestry of the environment.
I aim to inspire a sense of responsibility and mindfulness, fostering a deeper connection between viewers and country. The print serves as a visual testament to the idea that, as custodians, we hold the past, present, and future of our country in our hands, with the power to shape its destiny through our choices and actions
