I have lived on the Mornington Peninsula since 1988. I raised my family on a small horse farm on the Balnarring Plains then crossed from Westernport to Port Phillip in 2002 to spend the next 20 years in Mt Martha and now recently downsized in Mornington. I have lived and loved this beautiful part of the world, coastal and hinterlands, cold winters and sizzling summers, since coming down for holidays as a child to my Grandparents beach house in Mornington in the 60’s. I have always had a fondness for the Westernport wetlands. In fact when we first arrived there was a yearly Sea Grass festival celebrating the wetlands, its inhabitants, the unique ecology and fundamental importance to the environment. I have painted its many moods and this work captures the turn of the tide.
